This method is innovative, advanced and exclusive to M.P.I.

defines missing persons

as anyone:

• who is suspected to be absent from their safe and familiar surroundings against their will
• whose whereabouts are unknown
• who would benefit if their whereabouts were established
• who have officially been reported missing to the police

Missing persons who are known to have left of their own accord (to begin a new life, for instance) are not regarded as missing.
